About Beth

Beth is a journalist with more than 30 years working in media-related fields. A graduate of Michigan State University, she began her career as an on-air television reporter and anchor at a CBS affiliate in Michigan. She spent several years reporting on breaking criminal, medical and political news.

In subsequent years, she served as editor for a nonprofit news publication, anchored news at a Dallas television station and produced an award-winning documentary filmed in India and Thailand.

Currently, Beth teaches writing and video production at Lawrence Technological University, near Detroit, and works as a writer, producer and director for a Detroit-based video production company.

She has two sons and a daughter, Elizabeth, who suffered a massive brain injury in 1997 during her birth. It resulted in her developing cerebral palsy. Along with her husband Phil, Beth serves as her daughter’s caregiver at their home.

Beth believes her experience with her daughter’s disability has given her a special understanding and compassion for others with severe hardships like those with mesothelioma and their faithful caregivers. She uses her writing and storytelling talent to create content that is informative, sympathetic, uplifting and encouraging.
