About Karen

Karen Marshall has more than 17 years of legal experience and is an attorney with The Peterson Firm. She joined The Mesothelioma Center in 2011 and writes blogs about asbestos-related legal issues for Asbestos.com.

Karen has spent most of her career practicing law in Washington, D.C., where she has worked with large law firms, the government and as a solo practitioner. She has represented a variety of clients, both international and domestic, involved in complex litigation. She also has extensive experience advising clients on regulatory and public policy matters, as well as drafting federal legislation.

She has had a wide range of clients, including large corporations, small businesses, foreign governments, nonprofit organizations and individuals. Karen has represented her clients’ interests in federal and state court, before Congress and before a number of U.S. federal, U.S. state and international regulatory agencies.

Karen has also volunteered numerous hours to helping elderly and seriously ill clients obtain disability benefits and address other legal issues. Having cared for her mother, who developed cancer possibly as a result of asbestos exposure, she frequently speaks to families dealing with the challenges of terminal illness.
