Echocardiogram - Also called a cardiac ultrasound, an echocardiogram is a picture of the heart that doctors can use to track progress and diagnose diseases.
Effusion - Effusion is the build-up of fluids in cavities that should be free space. This fluid can make it hard for organs around the area to function correctly.
Endoscope - If a doctor wants to see inside the body he/she can use an endoscope. This instrument is a long tube with a camera that can be carefully guided through the body to assess medical conditions.
Endostatin - This substance in the body is said to inhibit the growth of blood vessels and is currently being studied as a cancer treatment.
Environment - Anything in your natural surroundings is the environment. Medical conditions said to be cause by the environment are those that are not a result of your genetic makeup, and they typically can be avoided.
EPA - EPA stands for "Environmental Protection Agency." This federal organization in the United States protects the health of humans as well as the health of the natural environment.
Epidemiological - Epidemiological refers to factors that affect human health and illness across populations.
Epidemiology - Epidemiology is the study of anything in the natural environment that affects the health of a population.
Epidural Catheter - An epidural catheter is tiny tube connecting doctors to your spine for injection of medications and/or anaesthesia.
Epithelial - In the body, the epithelial are tissues that line your organs and make up most of the body's glands.
Esophagitis - Esophagitis is a health problem causing the esophagus to become torn or inflamed.
Esophagus - The esophagus is a long tube of muscles that connects the mouth to the stomach.
Etiology - Etiology is the study of causes. Researchers specializing in etiology look for the cases of diseases so that these causes can be removed from the patient's life if possible.
Exposure - Being near a substance is known as exposure. "Exposure" can also refer to having lack of protection from harsh weather over a long period of time.
External Radiation Therapy - This medical process uses a large machine to aim radiation rays at the patient, killing cancerous cells. Also called external-beam operation.

Extrapleural Pneumonectomy - When you have lung cancer, doctors may recommends an extrapleural pneumonectomy, which is the removal of the lung, as well as the diaphragm and lining of the lung.
