Legal Glossary - H

Hearing - A hearing is a court proceeding that is a non-jury trial. Usually a hearing is only done with the judge, the lawyers for the prosecution and defense, any expert witnesses and the people involved on both sides.

Hearsay - Hearsay is a statement by a witness that didn't actually hear or see the incident appearing before the court, but rather heard the information from someone else. Hearsay is most often not admissible in legal proceedings as evidence.
