Other TopicsGold Bond Adhesive - Mesothelioma and Asbestos Exposure Risks
Did you know that many products of the past used asbestos? Asbestos was cheap to use and made everything that was made with it last longer, it seemed, at the time, that asbestos was a manufacturer's dream product. That is, until it was discovered that asbestos has long-term effects on the health of people who worked with it or manufactured products using asbestos and that those health problems extended to their families as well.
Asbestos was used to make Gold Bond adhesive, which was a product that was used to glue things like ceiling and floor tiles to their bases. Asbestos strands are very fine yet very strong - they do well under pressure, fortified Gold Bond adhesive as well as reinforced many other products that otherwise would not have been as strong. Asbestos was also very cost effective for producers of many different products - asbestos meant they could turn out products such as Gold Bond adhesive that were cheap to manufacture yet stronger than competition that didn't use asbestos in their products.
Today, we know that asbestos is harmful to health and can cause malignant cancer called mesothelioma as well as other asbestos-related diseases such as asbestosis.
Mesothelioma is a fatal form of cancer of the lining of the lungs, heart or abdomen and the only known cause for mesothelioma is asbestos exposure. There's no authoritative level of exposure that makes a person susceptible to mesothelioma, anyone with any level of exposure, from occasional to regular exposure, including workers who made asbestos Gold Bond adhesive can contract this dreadful disease. Many people who are diagnosed with mesothelioma do not live long past diagnosis - this cancer does not respond to common cancer treatments such as chemotherapy.
Asbestos fibers are easily inhaled as well as carried from place to place. Because they are so thin, they easily cling to hair, skin, shoes and clothing, which means that workers who used Gold Bond adhesive or made the product could have carried asbestos fibers home to their families and created asbestos exposure for them as well.
Mesothelioma is considered to be a rare form of cancer because it only makes up three per cent of annual cancer-related deaths in the US each year. However, there are also 2,000 new cases of mesothelioma reported each year. With no treatment or cure in sight, mesothelioma is a dangerous cancer that can attack anyone who has had exposure to asbestos.
The symptoms for mesothelioma cancer do not begin to appear for 15 to 40 years after exposure. This can make it quite difficult for lawyers to conclude the cause of the exposure. However, if you have mesothelioma, or a member of your family does, and they worked in construction that used Gold Bond adhesive or worked to manufacture Gold Bond adhesive, you may have a case against the company for asbestos exposure.
Contact a qualified mesothelioma lawyer to discuss if you have a case that you can file with the courts. Money that you win in a lawsuit won't replace or restore health or life, but it can help to cover the expenses of mesothelioma that you've incurred.
