HiTemp Insulation Cement

During the asbestos-industry boom in the years prior to the 1970s, the Philip Carey Manufacturing Corporation was the largest United States producer of materials and products containing asbestos. One of their most popular products was HiTemp Insulation Cement, which was manufactured by the company under the HiTemp Products Incorporated trade name. HiTemp Insulation Cement was a cement-like compound that could be troweled or sprayed onto the walls of building. Because the cement contained asbestos, which does not conduct heat well, HiTemp Insulation Cement was an efficient insulation. In addition to protecting against extreme temperatures, HiTemp Insulation Cement was relatively light weight and affordable, making it a popular choice amongst construction teams and contractors for construction and development projects.

However, the unfortunate thousands of workers who have been exposed to asbestos insulation over the last half-century are a testament to the dangers of asbestos. Their families will tell you, its benefits as an insulating product are negligible in comparison to the damage it has caused. Many employees whose job it was to manufacture or use asbestos products like HiTemp Insulation Cement have developed and succumbed to mesothelioma and the other life-threatening medical conditions that are caused by exposure to asbestos. Over the last three decades, nearly 200,000 Americans have succumbed to asbestos-related illnesses, and even today, as the demand for asbestos has decreased drastically in developed countries, nearly 10,000 Americans die each year, due to their exposure at home or work to asbestos. Experts predict that by 2050, more than 30 million people worldwide will have died from illnesses they developed as a result of working with asbestos products like HiTemp Insulation Cement.

In the early 70s, when the asbestos boom was at its peak, nearly 1 million tons of Hitemp Insulating Cement and other asbestos materials were manufactured. Countless thousands of workers and homeowners were put at risk when these asbestos-containing materials were disturbed during the course of manufacture or use and asbestos fibers were released into the atmosphere. Once these microscopic fibers are aspirated, they begin to wreck havoc upon the body, although the unfortunate victim of exposure may not even be aware of any danger. Mesothelioma, asbestosis, and the other potentially fatal asbestos-related illnesses may take years or even decades to fully develop. During this time, you may not experience or observe any symptoms of injury or illness. However, once symptoms do present themselves, you are in critical danger.

To date, almost 300,000 asbestos-related claims have been filed against the manufacturers of the asbestos products. Two hundred thousand of these claims are still pending, but many of the completed claims have been successful. All too often, manufacturers of products like HiTemp Insulation Cement knew about the hazards posed by asbestos, and yet they still did not inform the public or discontinue their dangerous products. As a result of their irresponsibility and greed, millions of innocent workers and their families will die before the asbestos epidemic has run its course. Please, do not be one of the nameless millions who perish for the sake of asbestos-industry profit. If you think you have been exposed to asbestos - at work, in your home, anywhere - please contact an attorney immediately. As a worker and consumer, you have a right to information and protection against materials that may be hazardous to your health. There is a way to protect yourself. Seek the advice of an experienced attorney who can help you secure the justice you deserve.
