Researcher H. Ian Robins, M.D., tackles diseases like mesothelioma and other cancers by guiding a number of cooperative group protocols as chairman of the Systemic Hypothermia Oncological working group. He is also a staff member of the University of Wisconsin’s Hospital and Clinics Department of Oncology.
H. Ian Robins Cooperation within the medical community is imperative when it comes to cancer research. No one knows that better than H. Ian Robins, M.D. It’s what he does.
In addition to such medical interests as malignant melanoma, low-grade lymphomas, neuro-oncology and breast cancer, Robins has worked with patients with mesothelioma and other non-small cell lung cancers. His work as an investigator has been extensive.
He has been the principal investigator for various cooperative group protocols, including the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the North American Brain Tumor Consortium. Robins is chairman of the Systemic Hypothermia Oncological working group, an international cooperative effort that conducts wide-ranging clinical trials. Much of his work is in the neuro-oncology field, including the development of protocols for treatment.
Robins is a professor at the University of Wisconsin and a staff member of the Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Department of Oncology. A graduate of Boston University Medical School, Robins came to Wisconsin first for an internship and fellowship. He also completed a fellowship at Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center.
He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. His articles and results of his trials have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of American Oncology and the European Journal of Cancer.
