Bio
James M. Donahue, M.D., is a thoracic oncologist at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. Taking a special interest in mesothelioma, Donahue draws upon his past education from Harvard University and the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine to bring surgical expertise to the center.
Donahue is board certified in General Surgery and specializes in surgical procedures for lung cancer, esophageal cancer, chest wall tumors and malignant mesothelioma. He is one of three physicians on the thoracic surgery team that offers patients cutting edge operations for cancers that develop in or spread to the chest.
At the Greenebaum Cancer Center Donahue contributes to a cancer program that was ranked 21st out of 900 facilities in the U.S. News & World Report’s compilation of America’s Best Hospitals. The team strives to bring minimally-invasive therapies to cancer patients, resulting in fewer complications and shorter hospital stays.
Donahue meets with the team’s other thoracic oncologists twice a week to collaborate on treatment plans to best benefit their patients. They feel this approach helps coordinate a patient’s therapy and best determines when a specialist from another department could contribute to a treatment plan.
