About Rachel

Rachel Gilner joined The Mesothelioma Center in 2010, first serving as an awareness coordinator before transitioning to public outreach and social media. Drawing on her passion for raising mesothelioma awareness, Rachel engages the online community to promote asbestos safety and inform readers about a variety of asbestos-related issues.

Rachel graduated from the University of Central Florida, where she earned a B.A. in business/marketing. She has completed marketing internships with Orlando Ballet and the Sarasota Film Festival.

Rachel has authored blogs and guest blogs covering a variety of topics, including asbestos and mesothelioma awareness, top doctors and treatment centers, survivor profiles, fundraising and treatment options for veterans. She also reaches out to the cancer community on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

In addition to her work at The Mesothelioma Center, Rachel has performed several years of volunteer work for the American Cancer Society. She has held leadership roles, including event chair, event co-chair and team development chair. While serving Relay for Life of Downtown Orlando, her team raised nearly $200,000 toward cancer research. She is also a member of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).
