Get to Know Dr. Eric S. Lambright

Dr. Eric S. Lambright treats a comprehensive range of thoracic malignancies at the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is also surgical director of Lung Transplantation at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

Dr. Lambright’s experience includes a number of detailed operations, such as chest wall resection and other intricate pulmonary surgeries. He also has conducted a number of surgeries to prevent lung failure.

Many of his procedures have been conducted with minimally invasive techniques. His patients have included lung cancer patients, esophageal patients and malignant mesothelioma patients. In 2007 he was given the 5-Star Award in Excellence in Healthcare.

Groundbreaking Research

Lambright is actively involved with groundbreaking research that he can apply to his clinical practice. Many of his studies have involved the development of novel therapies for malignancies of the chest.

Much of his research has focused on chemotherapy and immunotherapy for thoracic malignancies such as mesothelioma and lung cancer. He spent a two-year research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania investigating cancer gene therapy for chest malignancies. Lambright’s prior residencies were served studying general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Lambright earned Alpha Omega Alpha honors during medical school.

Lambright achieved certifications through the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is currently a member of the General Thoracic Surgical Club, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association.

Lambright’s eight published articles focus mainly on the surgical aspect of treatment for benign diseases and small cell lung cancer. He has also discussed the prediction of lung cancer risk in Annals of Thoracic Surgery and complications of lung surgery in Thoracic Surgery Clinic.
