Dr. Renuka Malik specializes in image-guided radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and other advanced procedures that have helped cancer patients live longer and more productive lives in recent years.
Malik also serves as quality assurance chair for the Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology for University of Chicago Medicine, making sure every patient is receiving the most highly effective care available.
Her clinical interests involve lung cancer, mesothelioma, mediastinal tumors and gastrointestinal cancers. Her expertise in stereotactic, ablative radiotherapy allows patients to safely receive more potent does of treatment without damaging healthy and surrounding tissues.
Malik is a graduate from the University of Chicago School of Medicine, where she did one of her two residencies. She also served at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. She is the lead investigator of an ongoing study that is assessing definitive radiotherapy for lung cancer patients.
She was part of a research project at the University of Chicago that uncovered molecular markers that could predict the spread of certain cancers.
