Get to Know Dr. Renuka Malik

Radiation oncologist Dr. Renuka Malik plays an integral role in the multidisciplinary mesothelioma program at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Malik specializes in intensity-modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy and other advanced procedures that have helped cancer patients live longer and more productive lives.

She serves as quality assurance chair for the radiation and cellular oncology department at University of Chicago Medicine, making sure every patient is receiving the most effective care available.

Malik’s clinical interests include lung cancer, mesothelioma, mediastinal tumors and gastrointestinal cancers. Her expertise in stereotactic ablative radiotherapy allows patients to safely receive more potent doses of treatment without damaging healthy surrounding tissues.

As part of the mesothelioma program, she meets weekly alongside medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons, pathologists and nurses to discuss each patient, making sure that their personalized mesothelioma treatment is the best it can be with all disciplines covered.
