Any advice for the newly diagnosed?

I know caretakers can provide a unique perspective. I have a loved one that was just diagnosed with mesothelioma. They are struggling with the diagnosis a bit. Any advice you can provide that I could share with them?

My advice for someone diagnosed with mesothelioma is not to immediately think of it as terminal or assume it means the end. It doesn't have to be that way. There have been a lot of medical advances, and today, people diagnosed with mesothelioma are living longer than they used to.
