What Does a Difficult Exposure Mean When Law Firms Evaluate a Mesothelioma Patient's Case?
Patients with mesothelioma may face challenges in identifying how they were exposed to asbestos, known as difficult exposure. Patient Advocate Karen Selby explains how reputable law firms can assist in researching and supporting patients with difficult exposure cases.
Patients come in all shapes and sizes in all ages. You'll have a, you know, a thirty year old, which is so unfortunate, that we'll say, how on earth could I have possibly gotten as I'm thirty years old? You know, I've never worked in this at all. You know, we call that difficult exposure. Most patients that have mesotheli It is a, consequence of occupational exposure. That thirty year old never worked around it. So how did they get it? So trying to track down good exposure may be, looking into their parents or grandparents or other forms of how they could have been exposed There's, you know, wives that get this from secondhand exposure from doing laundry. There's other that get mesothelioma on there just like, I have I I have a big fat zero. Nothing. I can't think of anything. That's why we always encourage patients to, connect with national firms, reputable firms that have a, extraordinary ability to research those difficult exposures and just leave it in their hands. Let them do the the research for you. Let them ask you the questions, let them dig deep. They'll they'll ask you the questions. They'll be able to figure it out. And I can't remember what Law Firm told me this, but they said, you know, ninety nine percent of the time we're gonna find it. And I believe them. And I think it's really important for for patients to know that that especially when they come to us and say, I've never been exposed. And you hate to, like, laugh and say, we ain't yap. But I I, you know, I want them to know that even though they don't know that they've been exposed, they were wronged by this diagnosis. And someone should be held accountable, and we need to figure out how this happened.
