How Did a Strong Support System Help During Kim's Mesothelioma Treatment?
Kim's mesothelioma treatment was made easier by the strong support system of friends who provided comfort, company, and transportation to appointments.
Kim has been very fortunate that she has had a really great support system. Kim has a lot of friends, a lot of friends that have been there for her and with her through this journey. When she had her surgery, she had many friends come that morning to, you know, wish her well and you know, pray with her to, you know, just really know that they were there for her. And pretty much that room of friends stayed all day through this whole lengthy procedure. And then we were able to go in when she was finished with her surgery and in the ICU and, you know, just let her know that we were still all there. During her hospital stay, she had many friends come and visit with her. And that was really a beautiful thing for Kim. I mean, it really was helpful to know that so many people loved her and supported her. And really just wanted to be there for her during the process of her surgery and radiation treatments and everything like that. She did need rides. And there were times where her husband really wasn't is available because of work and scheduling and, you know, her kids needing someone at home to help take care of them as well. That there were a variety of friends that would say what do you need from me? And she was fortunate in that manner because she had rides to radiation, or she had a friend to go with her to an appointment where perhaps she had to have an MRI or a pet scan, just anything like that. Just so she wouldn't have to go it alone.
