What Occupations Present the Highest Risk of Developing Mesothelioma?

Exclusive Content
Dr. Andrea Wolf

Dr. Andrea Wolf shares what occupations are at the greatest risk of being exposed to asbestos and therefore susceptible to contracting mesothelioma.

[MUSIC PLAYING] The occupations where there is asbestos exposure are the ones where people are at risk. And the latency, meaning that from the time of exposure to the time of presenting with disease, is about 20 to 40 years. So many of these people are retired. Those occupations are things like people who've worked with insulation, mechanics who've worked with brakes, people who worked in the shipyards, on ships where the insulation contained asbestos. Those are the occupations with highest risk. There are some parts of the world where there is a lot of asbestos or where these things were mined. And people who live in those regions are at risk.
