Panelists’ Backgrounds
Dr. Hedy Lee Kindler
Dr. Hedy Lee Kindler is an internationally recognized mesothelioma oncologist and the director of the Mesothelioma Program at the University of Chicago Medicine. She focuses on systemic therapy, especially immunotherapy and clinical research. The loss of her father to mesothelioma has inspired her and she has published extensively on improving treatment options.
Dr. Jeffrey Velotta
Dr. Jeffrey Velotta is a thoracic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center in California, specializing in pleural mesothelioma. He is also a clinical assistant professor at UCSF School of Medicine. His expertise includes minimally invasive surgery and multimodal treatment plans designed to improve patient outcomes.
Karen Selby, RN
Karen Selby is a registered nurse and Board Certified Patient Advocate with 15 years of experience supporting mesothelioma patients and families. She combines her oncology and thoracic surgery background to help patients navigate every step of their mesothelioma treatment journey.
