About Dr. Rodriguez

Dr. Estelamari Rodriguez completed her fellowship and residency in hematology and oncology at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. Before that, she completed a master’s degree in public health from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain.

She is passionate about empowering women with mesothelioma to advocate for their health and well-being.

Rodriguez is board certified in hematology, oncology and internal medicine. Early in her career, she was particularly interested in the early detection and treatment of lung cancer and how cancer affects women.

She is fluent in Spanish and earned her medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Columbia University’s New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Rodriguez has co-authored original articles and reviews on women’s health disparities. She was awarded the Best Attending of the Year Award – Teaching Service from Mount Sinai Medical Center.

She currently serves as chair of the Voluntary Leadership Board of the American Cancer Society in Miami-Dade County.
