Joining the team in February 2008 as a writer and editor, Michelle Whitmer has served as a writer at The Mesothelioma Center for more than 14 years. In 2022, Michelle was pivotal in launching the Community Outreach program which aims to connect patients with exceptional resources nationwide.
Her articles on asbestos, mesothelioma and integrative medicine are published in newspapers and magazines across the country. The New York Times quoted her on the dangers of asbestos exposure. She studied English and science at Rollins College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies.
Michelle holds certificates in the OSHA Asbestos Standard for the Construction Industry and AHERA Asbestos Awareness in schools. She provides presentations and educational materials on these topics and more including abestos in talc and makeup.
She is a member of the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine, the National Association of Science Writers and the American Medical Writers Association. She is currently pursuing a medical writer certification and has been a certified yoga instructor since 2010.
