Prior to joining The Mesothelioma Center at Asbestos.com in 2020 as a Content Editor, Fran Mannino spent two decades in print journalism. She was Managing Editor of the West End Word newspaper in St. Louis for eight years.
Fran was also a print and digital writer and editor for the newspaper group’s two sister papers in suburban St. Louis County for 18 years.
Before her long career in journalism, Fran worked in television production for Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. She was a Technical Director and assistant producer for projects ranging from national commercials to in-house corporate videos.
Over the course of her career, Fran has written award-winning articles about people, places and initiatives impacting the communities she served. Fran documented the lives of Bosnian refugees in St. Louis as well as recounted stories of World War II veterans who survived the Battle of the Bulge.
Fran also highlighted the impact of poverty on those living with HIV/AIDS. Her work has consistently been recognized with awards from the Missouri Press Association, the National Federation of Press Women and Independent Free Papers of America.
Fran edits news and blog content for The Mesothelioma Center at Asbestos.com. Her goal is to share valuable health information with those living with mesothelioma and asbestos-related diseases. She has experienced the devastation of a cancer diagnosis in her immediate family and knows the impact it can have on patients and their caregivers.
In her free time, Fran enjoys exploring botanical gardens and historic sites and spending time with her family.
