About Samuel
Samuel Meirowitz is a founding partner of Meirowitz & Wasserberg, a personal injury and mass torts law firm based in New York City. The law firm handles asbestos claims across the country.
Meirowitz, who earned his Juris Doctorate from Cardozo Law, is licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. District Court in the Southern and Eastern Districts as well as Florida and Washington, D.C. He also has a bachelor’s from the University at Albany.
The New York Metropolitan Super Lawyer has annually recognized him since 2016. The organization named him a “Rising Star” in 2013 and 2014.
Before co-founding Meirowitz & Wasserberg in 2015, he was a prosecutor in the Bronx District Attorney’s office for the State of New York. Meirowitz spent four years there, bringing many cases to verdict. He also taught law as an adjunct professor at City University of New York (Queens) and Interboro Institute.
In 2013, Meirowitz obtained what is known as the first multimillion-dollar asbestos verdict issued in more than 20 years in a New York federal court. He convinced a jury to hold a boiler manufacturer primarily responsible for a Vietnam veteran’s mesothelioma diagnosis. The jury awarded the veteran $3.8 million.
In addition to his experience representing asbestos plaintiffs, Meirowitz also specializes in other types of injury claims. These include defective drugs and medical devices, car accidents, slip and fall accidents, product liability claims and wrongful death claims.
Meirowitz has participated in the Miles for Mesothelioma run-walk event that raises money for mesothelioma research, and he has held union meetings about occupational safety hazards. He has also spoken at seminars in Canada to raise awareness of asbestos exposure. Canada banned the carcinogen in 2018.
