Why Choose Dr. Alex Kim for Peritoneal Mesothelioma Care
Patients choose Dr. Kim for his specialized expertise in treating peritoneal mesothelioma through cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC. This complex procedure involves removing visible tumors from abdominal organs and surfaces, then circulating heated chemotherapy directly through the abdominal cavity to target remaining cancer cells. Dr. Kim has extensive training in this technique and treats patients with various peritoneal surface malignancies, including the rare peritoneal form of mesothelioma.
Dr. Kim’s research background means patients benefit from his knowledge of the latest treatment developments and access to clinical trials testing new approaches. He publishes regularly in leading oncology journals and contributed to establishing national treatment standards for peritoneal mesothelioma. At UT Southwestern’s Simmons Cancer Center, he works with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans that may include surgery, chemotherapy and other therapies tailored to each patient’s specific diagnosis and overall health.
